Gorillaz - Do Ya Thing (Music Video)

Being a fan of the Gorillaz growing up has had a significant influence on my enjoyment of animation, with the music video for 'Do Ya Thing' epitomising the possibilities of animation. The detail within the 3D animated characters and the - despite messy - simplicity of the setting questions the audiences ability to differentiate between what's real and what's not. Despite this question of reality, throughout the video we are shown 2D characters briefly, obviously drawn over still life and animated, perhaps as an attempt to preserve the bands signature style seen in most of their older videos. The ability to mix styles and techniques and to play on emotions are few of the many possibilities animation hold.
